President Obama to Honor ’72 Dolphins at the White House
President Obama will honor the Undefeated 1972 Dolphins at the White House next week.
Yet another celebration of the Perfect Season will only add to the legendary ego of this legendary squad, but it’s nice to see the ‘Fins get celebrated in my lifetime for an actual team accomplishment. As absurdly late as this is (the team didn’t go in ’73 because Nixon was embroiled in Watergate), I take a slight consolation that no one will be inviting the 18-1 Patriots to the White House in 40 years.
In upcoming weeks, President Obama also plans to meet with the cast of MASH, celebrate the kid from the Mean Joe Green Coke commercial, and honor Arthur Digby Sellers for penning 156 episodes of Branded (the bulk of the series).
