At age 14, Zach Sobiech learned he had osteosarcoma, a rare cancer usually fatal to the young people it consumes. Rather than quit on life, Zach powered through, inspiring those around him everyday. “I want everyone to know that you don’t have to find out you’re dying to start living,” Zach said.
In December, Zach found out the cancer spread and although only 17 years old, he likely only had months to live. He wrote a great song to say goodbye, and “Clouds” is that song.
Zach’s courage and humility in the face of death has inspired many of the millions who have seen it, including Rainn Wilson and his YouTube channel, Soul Pancake. They put together a special surprise for Zach: a music video of “Clouds” sung by celebrities, musicians and fans across the country. It’s extremely touching, inspiring and will simultaneously bring a smile and tears.
All the videos below are definitely worth a watch.
UPDATE: Zach passed away on May 20th. “I want to be remembered a kid that went down fighting…and didn’t really lose.”
